In reply to the question about the attacks on SPAK by the head of Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, the EU ambassador said that the support for the justice system is unwavering no matter the case.

“The message is consistent. If we look at the progress report of the EU, we prioritize the reform of the justice system. The way it is working now shows it is coming to fruition and we should let justice do its job,” Gonzato said.

Also, Gonzato stated that “there is no double standard. Support for the justice system is unwavering, but the message is the same. We prioritize the justice reform and we must let it do its job.”
The ambassador did not comment on the appearance in SPAK of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, but underlined the support for SPAK.

“We will continue working with the Municipality of Tirana because we are doing very important work such as green transport, we will also inaugurate some schools because this is part of our work. I am here to help Albania and Albanian citizens become EU citizens, this is my objective and I am focused on my work”, he emphasized.

Gonzato said that the EU believes in the work of SPAK. I always support the professionalism of SPAK and appreciate the important work done by this institution. SPAK is doing its job. I fully believe in it, he said.
