TIRANA, April 16 /ATA/ The High Prosecution Council supports the work carried out by the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime and condemns the insulting, intimidating remarks that undermine the work of SPAK prosecutors.

In a press release, HPC reacted to the statements made by the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, in connection with the chief prosecutor of SPAK, Altin Dumani.

“The High Prosecution Council, as the governing and constitutional body of the prosecution system, closely follows any public reaction on the work of the prosecution institution and in particular the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime,” HPC says.

“In this context, the High Prosecution Council has been following with concern in recent days, the statements of certain subjects in the audio-visual and electronic media, regarding the prosecutors of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) and its head.”

“The High Prosecution Council condemns any hate speech, expression, insulting and intimidating action that aims to unfairly denigrate the figure of prosecutors or put pressure on them, calling on everyone not to undermine the professional work of the prosecutors of the Special Prosecutor’s Office,” same sources say.
“Each subject involved in the legal activity of the prosecution, has the right to submit any claim, complaint to the competent Court provided by the law for the delivery of justice. In a democratic state, this is the only way to reach the truth,” HPC says.
“At the same time, the Council unreservedly supports the legal activity of every prosecutor of the prosecution system, encouraging them to continue to exercise their function with full competence and independence for bringing and representing the accusation against anyone, on behalf of the Albanian state , without being influenced by anyone,” HPC concludes its press release.
