TIRANA, Dec 4 /ATA/ The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, announced today that after the miners’ strike at the Spaç mine, 11 of them have resumed work, while 35 others will be re-employed soon.

“During Thursday’s plenary session, responding to a question from opposition MP Jorida Tabaku about the miners’ post-strike situation, Ibrahimaj outlined the measures taken by the Ministry to address their demands for better working conditions and the enforcement of rights by private companies.

The Minister noted that a meeting with the miners will take place next week, as their current strike is no longer effective. She also announced that the Labor Inspectorate will conduct an inspection to check working conditions, hours, wage disparities, and any possible cases of intimidation during the strike period.

‘We will prepare a detailed report and inform the Human Rights Commission about the next steps to be taken going forward,” Ibrahimaj stated.

She reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation to resolving the conflict at the Spaç copper mine in Mirdita and to reaching an agreement between the parties in line with the legal framework.

The conflict between the miners at the Spaç mine and the company ‘TETE Albania Tunnel & Mining’ sh.a. began after the dismissal of one employee and escalated into a strike involving around 40 workers during the period October 8–13, 2025. The strike started before the mediation process had concluded, while the Ministry of Economy and Innovation took all legal measures to facilitate dialogue, organizing mediation meetings, including a tripartite meeting in November.
