During the meeting, Manja and Soreca shared the view that the law on personal data protection, drafted with EU assistance, should be adopted as soon as possible.

“As in every meeting, even today, the ambassador offered all the support on behalf of the European Delegation. This time the meeting focused on assistance to the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and its specialists, as one of the most important challenges lying ahead of the Albanian government,” Manja said.

For his part, Ambassador Soreca said that he had a useful meeting with Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja about the proposal of the new judicial map.

“Useful meeting today with Minister of Justice Ulsi Manja to be briefed about the proposed new judicial map. The EU will remain a strong supporter of the justice reform, including measures to improve the efficiency of courts. We also discussed how to advance alignment with EU’s data protection standards, following recent massive data leaks. I welcomed the commitment to move swiftly towards the adoption of the new Law on Personal Data Protection. Privacy is a key fundamental right that needs to be fully protected!
