“The end of the year is a beautiful moment to celebrate and rejoice at the achievements, but it is also an opportunity to reflect, especially for those who help us. You have always been a shoulder to cry on and I am glad that I share a part of the responsibility with you because no one can make it alone. Even in the most developed countries, in France, UK, the United States, Australia, the feeling of sharing the burden, especially when it comes to social issues, is the most just principle because no one has a monopoly on charity or the capability of solving problems,” said Veliaj.

The mayor said that thanks to this fruitful cooperation, many of the social problems in Tirana have been solved.

“We all have a mission together to move the city forward, and of course the challenge of a city like Tirana, which is growing at a gallop, is: Is everyone growing the same? Haven’t we left someone behind in the aftermath of the earthquake or the pandemic? We don’t know what people’s problems are, and maybe we won’t be able to know all the problems, but what we do know is what the solutions are. The solutions are management of each case, without discriminating against color, without discriminating against origin, without discriminating against family background, to ensure that in Tirana everyone is helped with dignity and enjoys full respect”, he emphasized.

Veliaj appreciated the professionalism with which these issues have been followed up case by case, starting from solidarity for a family in need to treating them with social housing.
