Joti stated that the purpose of the draft law is to enable Albania to contribute to an international security and stability mission established in response to the situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to him, the deployment is based on the authorization granted by the UN Security Council in November 2025 for the creation of the International Stability Force and aligns with the Republic of Albania’s commitments within the framework of the Peace Board.

The mission aims to contribute to maintaining security and stability, as well as supporting humanitarian efforts in the area of ​​operations.

The draft law provides for the participation of up to 40 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania in the operation. Their duties will include supporting security and stability operations, protecting mission personnel and infrastructure, supporting humanitarian operations and monitoring and reporting on the security situation, in accordance with the mission’s mandate.

Joti emphasized that the draft law entails financial implications, which will be determined on a case-by-case basis by a decision of the Council of Ministers and covered by funds allocated in the Ministry of Defence budget.

Joti stated that the initiative aims to provide Albania with the necessary legal basis to contribute to an international security operation, in alignment with the country’s strategic interests and its commitment as a partner to maintaining international peace and stability. /p.s./

Vengu said in his speech that the decision to send soldiers to represent us abroad is not simple.

“It is a decision that requires the understanding and sacrifice of your families, first and foremost. It implies dedication and self-sacrifice from you,” he said.

Further on, the minister said that, “The times we are living are difficult, despite the fact that Albania, within the framework of collective defense, has never been more protected than today. The geopolitical situation on the eastern flank and especially in Ukraine, puts before us the duty and responsibility of solidarity with other members of our Alliance and we must not forget this whenever we mention the sacrifice of our armed forces in missions of this nature”.

Albania, Vengu said, “is undoubtedly lucky to be part of the umbrella of the largest political, military Alliance of modern times, but it is also lucky to see in each member of the Armed Forces the determination and full commitment not to retreat in face of the challenges that threaten us”.

“You are undoubtedly the shield and strength of all of us. Your sacrifice and that of your families, which I salute with great respect and gratitude, today receives the highest estimation from us, from your compatriots and from the Homeland. I wish you a successful mission!”
