Chantal Kambiwa, the Secretary General of the Socialist International, thanked the host party for holding this meeting in Tirana, viewing it as a sign of the Socialist Party’s strong preparedness to lead in the future.

She stated, “We are now confronted with the rise of the far right and efforts to diminish our democracy and values, which link the global with the national, and we reflect this in our political agendas and policies.”

“As a member of the Socialist International, we must be proactive worldwide and adapt our programs and vocabulary to the world of tomorrow. Furthermore, we must utilize technology and social media to implement our ideology, which places the human being at the center of everything,” Kambiwa stated.

“The Tirana Declaration, which will result from our work today, will serve as the document for the upcoming Socialist International Council meeting to be held on May 22, 23, and 24 in Istanbul,” Kambiwa said.
