TIRANA, Jan 6 /ATA/ Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, paid a visit on Monday to the “Ahmet Gashi” primary school, where she attended a class in the new smart laboratories, an investment by the Ministry of Education for advancing technology in schools.

Manastirliu highlighted the installation of two smart laboratories at the school which are fully operational and emphasized ongoing efforts to expand this initiative across 615 schools, aiming to equip them with smart labs. This plan, set to continue over the next two years, will help children, starting from first grade, develop essential digital skills, not only in computer sciences but across all subjects. The goal is to prepare students with the digital skills needed for the future.

These laboratories provide a golden opportunity for children, starting from first grade, to acquire the essential digital skills for the future, not only for computer sciences but for sciences in general.

Manastirliu highlighted the importance of technology-driven education, noting that “more than 35,000 children in the first, second, and third grades are learning Information and Technology subjects thanks to government investments. As part of the new project, 654 more smart laboratories will be installed in schools, ensuring that institutions with large student numbers will have multiple laboratories.”

Another key focus of the new strategy is digital and cybersecurity.

“The smart laboratories offer not only programming and coding knowledge but also vital cybersecurity skills from a young age,” said the Minister.

The Minister also cited the new Action Plan aimed at enhancing security and preventing incidents in schools, noting the rise in the number of security officers and social workers.
