TIRANA, September 30/ATA/ Albania has started to do the population and housing census since September 18.

The expert of local policies Agron Haxhimali told ATA that the census of the population, housing and other aspects within the family economic unit plays a decisive role in societies around the world as well as in our country.

“The significance of this process can be understood from different perspectives related to the distribution of resources, demography, political representation, planning and policy formulation, socio-economic research, market research for businesses, demographic analysis, various comparisons for each 61 municipalities and our 12 regions, but also for international comparisons. However, the significance of registration cannot be overestimated”, he said.

For Haxhimali, accurate and comprehensive census data are essential for the decision-making and fair allocation of resources.

At the same time, Haxhimali emphasized, it serves the municipalities in the drafting of urban planning, the orientation of investments such as schools, nurseries, kindergartens or medical centers, etc. Also, added Haxhimali, it helps municipalities in responding to civil emergencies, etc.

Asked if the Census will be essential for changes in the territorial reform, Haxhimali said that Census data will help to distribute the citizens’ representatives as fairly as possible.

“The data from the 2023 Census will present us with a clear panorama of demographic movements, depopulation, concentration of age groups, different communities, etc. All these data help in the orientation to distribute the local government, to distribute the citizens’ representatives as fairly as possible, whether for the central government or the local government. This is enough for every possible review”, stated Haxhimali. /p.s./

TIRANA, April 4 /ATA/ Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament Elisa Spiropali and Minister of Enterprise Protection Edona Bilali were today in Tetova, North Macedonia, where they participated in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of Corridor 8, one of the infrastructure projects of geostrategic significance for both countries and not only.

In a post on social media, Spiropali wrote that, “The 6-lane highway from Kumanova and Skopje, Tetova and Gostivari, Kirçova and Struga to Tirana, Durrës and Vlora will re-dimension and strengthen even more national and inter-country cooperation of the region”.

“The start of work for an infrastructural work of these dimensions also marked the day when the borders will serve as a meeting point and not as an obstacle for the common future”, Spiropali emphasized.

While Minister Bilali said that, “The 8th corridor is one of the biggest capital investments in North Macedonia in recent decades that connects North Macedonia (Tetova) with Albania (Qafë Thana)”.

“At the end of the project, Tetova-Tirana will be closer to each other covered within a travel distance of less than two hours. The new road, among other things, will also serve as a means of communication and economic cooperation between our two countries”, said Bilali. /k.s/ /gj.m/p.s./
