TIRANA, April 13 /ATA/ – Chairman of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group Taulant Balla stated at parliament’s plenary session on Thursday that Albania has collected the required number of signatures in the Council of Europe Assembly to review a 2011 Council of Europe report by Dick Marty, in which the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) had been accused of human organ trafficking.

The senior Socialist official reacted to a statement by the opposition lawmaker Tritan Shehu at today’s parliament sitting, who said that Albania should support Kosovo.

SP lawmaker Balla stated that everything has been made to undo Dick Marty’s report, adding that “Parliament has addressed this issue also thanks to the members of Albania’s delegation to the Council of Europe, and I am not distinguishing among the ruling majority and the opposition, because we are all united in initiating a new resolution at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to challenge the human organ trafficking allegations.”

Last year, Albanian lawmakers approved a resolution tabled by the Socialist Party to condemn the 2011 Council of Europe report that accused former high-ranking Kosovo Liberation Army members of war crimes, asking the international human rights body to review it.
