TIRANA, May  12 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister, also the Socialist Party head, Edi Rama stated on Friday that the government has never withheld funds for Shkodra.

At the closing meeting of the May 14 local election campaign in Shkodra, Rama spoke about Benet Beci’s work at the helm of the ADF.

Rama emphasized that Benet Beci has had the ambition to make Shkodra like  Vlora, Durrës, Tirana, Malesia e Madhe.

According to him, “the truth is that the government has not withheld funds for Shkodra.”

“We have never spared the funds for Shkodra. The facts and work speak for themselves. The Shkodra-Velipoja road was not built by Benet Beci and Berisha, it it was built by us and Beci and it is a strategic investment. Building the Shkodra-Velipoja road is not just a road for the Shkodra municipality, but another strategic axis for the economy and tourism,” added Rama.

He also said that the Shkodra-Thethi road was built by this government which teamed up with Benet Beci.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the expropriation fund for the road project was disbursed to the municipality of Shkodra to expropriate all the landowners, because during Berisha-led government in Shkodra there were no expropriations. “They haven’t even received flood compensation,” added Rama.
