TIRANA, Aug 3 /ATA/ – The lakeside village of Shiroka, just 6 km from the north-western Albanian city of Shkodra, is becoming a popular destination as a growing number of domestic and foreign tourists are visiting the area.

Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media to share images showing the tourist village of Shiroka that has been transformed thanks to a series of investment projects over the past few years, including construction of a new road leading to the village, the lakeshore promenade, rehabilitation of the small beaches, and construction of the dock for tourist boats now available to all visitors wishing to explore the lake and the stunning landscape along the lakeshore.

“The reborn village of Shiroka welcomes visitors from all over the world, whilst more transforming projects are already underway or will be launched soon as part of the tourist Shkodra 2030,” the government head wrote on a social media post.

Foreign tourists visiting the village are impressed by the area’s natural beauty and landscape.

“I visited the village together with my family. We are from Brittany, France. We just arrived here by car and we found Albania wonderful. This place is amazing. We are visiting the country primarily for its landscape, the diverse landscape from the sea to the mountains. We found the lake really amazing; a huge and wonderful water system,” a French visitor to Shiroka said.

Another visitor from Prague, Czech Republic, said “this place is wonderful.”

“We like Albania so much, because it is an amazing country. We visit Albania often since we have bought an apartment here and we visit the country probably ten times a year,” he said.

A Filipino and an Albanian, who live in London, were impressed by the beauty of Shiroka.

“We are here for three weeks now,” they said

A Spanish tourist said he had learned about Albania via the social media and he was now visiting the country for the first time.
