TIRANA, May 3 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Sunday that Albania has taken a new step toward strengthening its military capacities and repositioning within the defense industry.

In the ‘Notes of the Week’ feature, through a video published from Berlin, Rama stated that one of the highlights of the week was the signing of the agreement between the Italian company ‘Fincantieri’ and the Albanian public company ‘KAYO’.”

The Prime Minister underscored that this initiative signifies Albania’s reentry into the military industry landscape and marks a significant step toward strengthening its role within international cooperation.

He noted that the agreement provides for the production of naval vessels in Albania, at the Pashaliman shipyard, to serve both the needs of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania and those of allied forces.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this project represents not only an important investment in the military industry, but also a concrete opportunity for economic development and increased employment.

This is not just a new and very significant investment, but also a new employment front with around 400 well-paid jobs in the first phase,” said Rama.

He added that the agreement opens up prospects for young people, especially for students of vocational schools, who will be included in training programs to become part of the joint company “Fincantieri Albania” that will be established within the framework of this cooperation.
