Speaking at a joint press conference with his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni after the first joint cabinet meeting in Rome, the government head said the Italian partner in the project will be the Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri, while the Albanian side will be represented by KAYO.

“This will be a joint enterprise that will create jobs and skills for young Albanians, who will be well paid. Ships are vital assets in today’s world,” Rama said.

Earlier today, Albania and Italy signed a memorandum of understanding between Fincantieri and KAYO, a preliminary step toward establishing the joint venture for shipbuilding operations at Pashaliman.

The two governments also signed a series of other agreements strengthening cooperation in key sectors including health, energy, the environment, defence, migration management, education, innovation, diaspora, and economic transformation.
