This sector is mainly focused on manufacturing of apparel and footwear ordered from abroad, but in recent years there has been an expansion in other segments, mainly in the industry of auto parts or other industrial equipment.

Minister of State for Reconstruction Eduard Shalsi participated in the first forum on promotion of Albanian manufacturing association Proeksport Albania.

In his remarks at this forum, Shalsi said that the discussion focused on incentives for this sector and promotion of “Made in Albania” products in European markets.

“Proeksport Albania is the official representative of the clothing and footwear industry in our country with a very large impact on improving manufacturing practices and exports,” said Shalsi.

According to the Institute of Statistics, in Albania there are about 800 companies operating in the production of textiles, clothing and footwear. It is estimated that this sector has a total of about 70 thousand employees. The vast majority of these businesses receive orders from abroad. /j.p/sm/
