“The decision to lift the sticker regime is a gesture of good neighborly and it follows Serbia’s decision to fully recognize the license plates of the Republic of Kosovo. The decision enters into force upon publication on the official gazette,” Kosovo government said in a statement.

The decision comes after an earlier decision by the Serbian government on December 25, 2023, to allow free movement of all vehicles bearing RKS license plates. The decision entered into force on January 1, 2023.

The initial decision for the use of license plates was reached at the end of 2011, but its implementation was made impossible as a result of the fact that authorities in Belgrade did not accept RKS (Republic of Kosovo) license plates.
