TIRANA, March 15 /ATA-Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday that the “Open Balkan project” has worked and this is evidenced by the fact that Serbia unblocked only the amount of wheat contracted by Albania.

In a meeting with representatives of small business, Rama said that “for many years Albanian companies have imported wheat.”

“Until a few days ago, we had a problem with companies because 20,000 tons contracted in Serbia were part of the exports that Serbia had blocked. Unless the wheat contract of 20 thousand tons was unblocked, it would create a problem of stock replenishment and prompt the prices to soar,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister stressed that “in fact this is the opportunity to illustrate by example what the ‘Open Balkan’ is and what it means to establish relations in the service of the economy, the people and the movement of goods.”

Regarding the supply of flour, Rama said that “we have no problem with the supply.”
“Our challenge is not to allow the price to be reflected in exponential increase in the price of bread. In terms of supply, we do not see any problem on the horizon,” added Rama.
