The State Police inform that, until now, along the entire coastline from Ksamil to Velipoja, about 90 Jet Skis and 40 other boats have been seized so far.

Involved in the operation are the forces of Border Police, Delta Force, Order Police, “Eagle” Force and Criminal Police. Also the operation involves the Sector for Economic and Financial Crime and the Sector for the Investigation of Illegal Traffic at the Regional Police Directorates of Vlora, Durrës, Lezhë and Shkodër.
The operation consists in checking all boats and Jet Skis by the Sector for the Investigation of Economic Crime if they are related to cases of laundering the proceeds of crime as well as verification by the Sector for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking and by Interpol, whether or not they are stolen abroad.

The operation is led by the Director General of the State Police, Major Gledis Nano, who is in Dhërmi to oversee the implementation of the assignments set out in this operational plan.

On the sidelines of this operation, Nano has sent a message to the citizens.

“First and foremost, I want to express my sincere condolences to the Avdia family, who lost their little girl in a tragic accident yesterday. We as State Police are twice as much responsible for this tragic event, since the perpetrator was a police officer. The perpetrator was arrested at the scene of the incident. I ask the justice authorities to prosecute him to the fullest extent of law. I am very determined, as you can see even today, I am in charge of the operation in Dhërmi myself, for escorting, seizing and verifying all boats, their documentation and the procedure they follow to go out to sea. Just as I am determined to show zero tolerance towards anyone breaking the law and risking the lives of vacationers. I am determined to show zero tolerance towards any police officer who is unworthy, abuses trust, abuses duty and is negligent in carrying out the duty,” said Nano.

“Yesterday, after the analysis carried out by the inspection group, I dismissed the entire chain of command of Regional Directorate for Border and Migration Vlora, due to their negligence in implementing the additional measures ordered by me, a few days ago, in order to increase the safety parameters on the beaches. This inspection will continue, the analysis will ensue and will be extended even further. Despite the fact that the perpetrator is a police officer, the action of a police officer cannot belittle the work, effort and sweat that thousands of men and women in the State Police have put in working uninterruptedly to ensure peaceful and safe places for vacationers during the tourist season,” he said.
Nano emphasized that “up to these moments, along the entire coastline, around 90 jet skis and around 40 other boats have been taken to the seizure points.
