Albanian Parliament Speaker voiced confidence in strong support for the country’s EU accession goals from the participating countries in the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), namely Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Croatia and Slovenia.

Speaker Spiropali made the remarks as she addressed the 12th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) that brought together delegations from Türkiye, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Serbia.

Spiropali underlined that Albania is making fast and resolute steps on the path towards the EU accession and consolidation of fundamental European values.

“Albania is committed to respecting human rights, including ethnic minorities, modernizing political system and strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, economic development and welfare. Our national strategic goal to complete the EU accession negotiations by 2027 and join the EU by 2030 has been supported by the European Parliament and the European Commission, and is increasingly being backed by the EU member states,” she stated.

Spiropali also underlined that Albania’s foreign policy fully aligns with the EU policy.

According to her, supporting the EU accession bid of the Western Balkan countries is more than just a gesture of solidarity.

“It is an additional contribution to allow for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, just like other countries in South-East Europe, become EU members,” Spiropali said.
