Çomo said the threats went beyond the security of any single country, affecting regional stability, freedom of navigation and the security of strategic maritime routes, including the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

“The current activities of the Houthi group and reports of its cooperation with the Al-Shabaab organisation are a serious concern for international security,” Çomo said in a statement, noting that both organisations are designated as terrorist organisations by the United States.

“As chairman of the Albania-Saudi Arabia Parliamentary Friendship Group, I express my full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of attacks and threats that endanger its security, population and civilian facilities,” Çomo said.

He said Albania stood alongside its partners during the current challenges and supported Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect its sovereignty, the safety of its citizens, regional stability and freedom of international navigation.

“Albania stands with its friends and partners in these challenging times and supports the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect its sovereignty, the safety of its citizens, regional stability and freedom of international navigation,” the statement said.
