TIRANA, Aug 19 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ The State Police have beefed up security measures to cope with the influx of arrivals during the tourist season and to prevent and crack down on illegitimacy.

Director of Department for Border and Migration at State Police Eduart Merkaj has closely followed the implementation of simplified measures taken by the Rinas Border Police, to cope with the large influx of tourists and Albanian nationals, also residents in different countries of EU, who come to their home country to spend the holidays.

Merkaj had a meeting with the chiefs and employees of the Rinas Border Police Station which focused on the measures to successfully cope with the large influx of tourists and various citizens who have chosen our country for vacation.

“Since the ease of the requirements for entering the EU countries, the influx of tourists has risen even compared to 2019 which has been a year with a relatively high influx of arrivals. The Rinas police station, from July 1 to date has seen an increase of 100 thousand people. This increase is not only recorded in Rinas, but at all border crossing points. The arrivals are mainly related to tourism reasons, while the rest enter Albania for business or for other reasons.

All measures are in place and a detailed Action Plan has been prepared for each regional directorate of border and immigration, as well as for each border police station, outlining in detail all the functional duties of each police officer for border and migration. In addition to control of persons passing through the border point or the simplification of procedures for every citizen entering or leaving the Republic of Albania, the prevention of cross-border crime is also a priority. For the period in question, we have ratcheted up the crackdown on cross-border crimes, starting from the persons declared nationally or internationally wanted, hitting the cases of drugs trafficking to the use of forged documents at the border crossing points, ” according to director of the Department for Border and Migration at the State Police, Eduart Merkaj .
