“The first item on the agenda of this meeting was the introduction of the budget allocation for 2025 for the institutes and research centers at the Albanian Academy of Sciences, previously coordinated with the requests of each unit”, stated a press release of the Albanian Academy of Sciences.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman of the Academy Skënder Gjinushi, while there were present the heads of the scientific research institutes and centers, the heads of the permanent committees at the Academy of Sciences of Albania and members of the Leading Board.

After being acquainted with the budget allocation for 2025, the heads of the institutions presented a summary report on the activities of the institutes and centers for 2024 and the forecasts for 2025.

During the meeting, the board members were also acquainted with some proposals of the working groups previously established for some changes in the statute, as well as some corrections and clarifications in the “Internal Administrative Regulation” approved by the Leading Board decision no. 83, dated 24.9.2024. /a.f/p.s./

Chairman of the Academy of Sciences Skënder Gjinushi considered the Academy of Youth as a breath of fresh air that will help the Academy of Sciences in achieving its objectives, already under different conditions.

Today, there were also extended the diplomas to: Aulon Shabani (electrical engineering), Erald Sino (finance), Joniada Barjaba (sociology), Jonilda Llupa (chemistry), Claudio Peqini (physics), Ledia Vasjari (biology), Redion Luli (law) Resul Telaj (linguistics) ) and Romina Muka (informatics).

Thanks to its activity, the Youth Academy has become a member of the Global Young Academies and has established cooperation links with the ALLEA. The re-establishment of the Youth Academy of Albania is an obligation to the Law no. 53/2019 “On the Academy of Sciences in the Republic of Albania” and to its Statute to function according to the new legal framework.

Also, ALLEA has approved a “new Basic Charter” as a unifying regulation of the way of setting up and functioning of youth academies, which, with some adaptations, has been approved by the Academy of Sciences Assembly as its statute. Meanwhile, in respect of the age limit (up to 40 years old), only three of the founding members of the Youth Academy could continue their membership, not having the legal capacity to make decisions./p.s./
