The school is being upgraded to meet European standards, with work including the renovation of classrooms, laboratories, and sports facilities, as well as electrical and plumbing systems, air conditioning, and full accessibility for students with disabilities.

The educational facility will also be equipped with new furniture designed to reflect a modern school environment.

Education Minister Ogerta Manastirliu, who visited the construction site alongside Shkodra Mayor Benet Beci, said the school is expected to be ready ahead of the new academic year.

“This school will soon welcome students and teachers in a fully modern environment, with cutting-edge labs, inclusive access, and state-of-the-art facilities built to European standards,” Manastirliu said.

She added that “Kolë Idromeno” is also part of the national SmartLab initiative, which will introduce 654 digital laboratories in schools across Albania, including high schools for the first time, to help students develop advanced digital skills.

“The people of Shkodra deserve this. Teachers and students deserve to learn and work in modern, well-equipped environments,” Manastirliu added.

Nationwide, Albania plans to reconstruct or build 40 new educational and sports facilities, including 22 new schools and 18 gyms and outdoor sports areas.
