TIRANA, Sept 9 /ATA/ On the first day of the new school year, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu inaugurated the reconstructed school “Babe Dudë Karbunara”, an iconic school in the city of Berat and one of 25 new schools that opened the doors today for 10,000 students across the country.

The investment in this school is one of the biggest investments this year in education infrastructure, which has enabled optimal conditions for 600 students and teachers.

Minister of Education and Sport Ogerta Manastirliu said in her remarks that this school year is particularly meaningful t, as 25 new schools have opened the doors to about 10 thousand students nationwide, built back stronger and better according to European standards.

“Here we are in one of the iconic schools of Albania, witnessing how a project has become a reality thanks to the support of the Albanian government and prime minister Rama in education, investment for people, for students, and for teachers. This school is a mirror image of our vision for the model of schools we need. Beyond Tirana, we see schools built back stronger and better, schools that offer optimal infrastructure for students to grow and develop like their peers in the capital. Today, on the first day of school, 25 new schools open their doors. There are more than 40 construction sites across Albania and more will be done to improve our education system. Our vision for European Albania is centred on education” said minister

The “School 2030” programme , according to Manastirliu, aims to build high-tech schools, with optimal infrastructure and up to European standards.

Other than infrastructure, we have prioritized the support for teachers who are the backbone of our education system.

“We have delivered on our commitment to raise teachers’ salaries for 31,000 teachers. The average salary of our teachers today is 950 euros. We will continue to increase wages, but this was a historic leap, because investing in teachers means investing in the future, in empowering human capital, investing in the knowledge they convey.
