TIRANA, Jan 24 /ATA/ The company BIOBES in Divjakë is a leader in the production, collection, and processing of aromatic and medicinal herbs, exporting to Europe and beyond.

Belinda Balluku, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, paid a visit to the company, where she learned about the investments and progress made in all stages of collection, technological processing, and packaging.

Balluku referred to this investment as a robust and sustainable business that successfully exports Albanian tea to both Australia and the United States.

She praised the entrepreneur’s initiative, which consists in providing social support, specifically the establishment of a daycare centre to accommodate the children of mothers working at the company.

“You set an example for Albanian businesses to follow suit and those looking to return from emigration to invest in Albania,” said Balluku.

Back in 2014, Besnik established this company based on the family farm he managed, growing into one of the main exporters of aromatic and medicinal plants, exporting to Germany and other EU countries, as well as the USA, Mexico, and Japan.

BIOBES collaborates closely with small family farms and holds approximately 450 contracts with families engaged in the spontaneous collection of aromatic and medicinal plants. Currently, the company boasts a portfolio of more than 100 products.

With the support of the National Scheme, he has grown his business and enhanced the cultivation and drying processes of plants using advanced technology, thereby preserving the value of the product.

Medicinal plants are another key sector of Albania’s agriculture that continue to contribute significantly to the growth of “Made in Albania” agricultural exports.

Balluku stated that this company recorded a 28% increase in production last year, and in 2025, the company aims to expand investments in packaging using modern technologies, with the goal of increasing exports.
