According to the BoA, 64% of the annual growth is attributable to savings in local currency, contrary to the trend of previous years, when the expansion was attributed to foreign currency.

At the end of April 2021, the lek-denominated deposits accounted for 46.4% of the total, from 46.3% in April 2019, as a result of the faster increase of savings in local currency, in relation to currencies, mainly the euro.

Compared to April of the previous year, when the country was in total lockdown, deposits expanded by 8.2%, or about 86 billion ALL (about 700 million euros).
