Prime Minister Edi Rama has published images from the port on his social media account, emphasizing that there is no bureaucracy, a minimal number of checks for tourists and comfortable conditions for their reception.

“The Port of Saranda – which welcomes every day tourists who come by sea and as the figures show it only during the month of June there were 68,068 foreign visitors, 24% more compared to 2021. No bureaucracy, minimal number of checks for tourists and comfortable conditions for their reception,” says Rama.

Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, accompanied by the mayor of Saranda, Ardian Gurma and the director of the port, Alket Qendro, visited on Monday the port, where tourists who come by sea are welcomed every day.

“According to the figures, June alone saw 68,068 foreign visitors, 24% more compared to 2021. No bureaucracy at all, minimal checks for tourists and comfortable conditions in their reception,” says Kumbaro.

The director of the port, Qendro emphasizes that “the port is visited almost every day by fast ferries, as well as ferries of the Saranda-Corfuz line. Tourists disembark at the port and board the bus without police control only with the ticket. This has created facilities according to tourists, since if they were checked it would take a lot of time.”

“We reached the peak 4 days ago with 1600 tourists in one day. There are also weekly tourists, who stay for a week. Compared to 2019, we are even better, there is an increase in the number of tourists,” said Qendro.
Minister Kumbaro was informed on the anticipated number of tourists for the months of July-August, as well as the process of handling tourists.

The director of the port, Qendro, said that “we will also introduce the ticketing system for entry to the terminal.|

In addition to the beach sun, Saranda is also famed for its history and culture: the castle of Lëkurës is enchanting, while the Archeological Park of Butrint attracts more and more foreign tourists due to its thousand-year history.
The measures taken for the tourist season also include the improvement of the management by the Directorate of Tourism in the Municipality such as the restructuring of the Tourist Information Office (ZIT) in the city center.
