TIRANA, April 4 /ATA/ The World Bank highlighted the progress of the local government process, describing it as the main contributor to the reduction of bureaucracies, corruption as well as facilitating the interaction of citizens with various institutions.
Emanuel Salinas, the World Bank country manager in Tirana during a joint news conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama said “the work we are doing with electronic governance in Albania has delivered the impact given that the likelihood of bribery when people go to state offices to get paperwork done has significantly decreased.”
According to him, Albania has every reason to be proud of the results achieved in the field of digital governance.
“This is a productive way to address these issues like corruption, because first and foremost it translates into reducing the opportunities for corruption, as well as into significant savings for people who interact with authorities or agencies. For us it is a tangible or real thing. We see it as an important thing. We have a very good start and a trend with the potential to move ahead,” said Salinas.
