TIRANA, Jan.22 /ATA/- The Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj stated on Friday that the doctors and nurses in primary health care benefited a salary increase of over 56% if compared to 2013.

“Along with Prime Minister Edi Rama we have introduced two main elements of taxation. The Albanian government has reduced the fiscal burden for 97% of Albanians, belonging to the category of individuals with average wage level. In Albania the average salary is 58,000 ALL and most of the people employed fall into this category. If we look back and compare the flat tax rate of 10% that applied to all categories under Berisha. In 2013, we imposed progressive tax rate, which for all salaries up to 30 thousand ALL was zero,” Minister Denaj said.

“The final figures published by the Albanian Institute of Statistics INSTAT for 2020 will be available in the coming weeks. According to current official data, in the third quarter of 2020, the economic recession worsened if compared to the second quarter due to coronavirus lockdown,” Denaj added.

According to Denaj, GDP is expected to decrease by 6% in 2021.This means that, Albania is experiencing an economic recession like many other countries, such as Greece suffering a contraction of 11% of gross domestic product, followed by Bulgaria with -5.5%.

“During the pandemic lockdown, the small business with a turnover of up to 14 million ALL were provided with direct support through wartime payment of 26 thousand ALL, while today they receive 30 thousand ALL,” she added. //a.i/
