TIRANA, May 31 /ATA/ Minister of State for Local Government, Arbjan Mazniku, said on Friday that there will be a significant increase in salaries for the employees of the 61 municipalities in the country.

Mazniku held a meeting with representatives of the municipalities where he presented the new organizational chart.
“We concluded the discussion with the 61 mayors about the new structure of the staff and the new organizational chart proposed for them”, said Mazniku.

According to him, the division into three main pillars, the apparatus which is in charge of policy-making, work planning, monitoring and regulatory acts, the structure of functions, which follows up the implementation of works in the territory and the structure of services which is responsible for the maintenance of facilities and the territory of the municipalities, will bring higher efficiency and better service quality for citizens.

“This reform also entails a significant salary raise where everyone who does the same job will be paid the same in every municipality. With this measure, the municipalities will be able to compete in the labor market with the private sector, addressing the challenge for human resources”, he said.

The government has announced the continuation of the reform with salary raise for all employees from July 1 to reach the average salary target of 900 euros in the country.
