TIRANA, Nov 6 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, alongside the recent increases in pensions and the minimum wage, the 2026 draft budget includes further salary hikes for public sector employees.

In a video message from the SP headquarters, Rama stated that “there is another very positive piece of news in the 2026 draft budget, which is the start of the practice of annual indexation for public sector salaries, both at the central and local levels, which will be adjusted each year based on inflation.”
“This is a new wage policy which, combined with the overall increase resulting from the rise in the minimum wage for everyone, adds nearly 100 million euros already in the first year, 2026, to the amount that the fourth mandate will make available to boost the purchasing power of all social categories,” Rama said.

Specifically, Rama stated that 10,600 public service employees—including janitors, drivers, technicians, protocol officers, archivists, and storekeepers—will benefit a 10,000 Albanian lek monthly increase in the minimum wage.
“For public administration specialists, the increase will be 5,000 Albanian lek, while teachers will receive a 3,000 lek monthly raise,” Rama stated.

Meanwhile, he noted that, for the first time in the healthcare sector, employee seniority will be factored in alongside the annual salary indexation.

Rama stated that, on average, the salaries for general practitioners will increase from 131,700 lek to 143,500 lek per month. Hospital doctors’ pay will rise from 174,000 lek to 186,000 lek per month, while nurses’ salaries will go from 87,000 lek to 92,500 lek per month.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that for State Police employees, in addition to annual indexing, seniority will be factored in, resulting in an average monthly increase of 5,000 lek for the lower ranks.

Rama emphasized that Albania has now reached a new level, and this measure will be applied annually, becoming increasingly tangible in the daily lives of people, both in the public and private sectors.

“Those who entrusted us with 83 mandates for Albania 2030, deserve increasing support each year—and they will continue to receive it. This is who we are, this is me, this is the Socialist Party of Albania,” Rama stated.
