The racers sailed for several hours across the Strait of Otranto to reach Vlora Bay.

Organized by LNI Brindisi in collaboration with the Orikum Marina, the sailing race registered a record in its history with 50 registered boats, with Albanian and Italian participants racing as true professional sailors.

The Mayor of Vlora Municipality, Ermal Dredha took to the social media on Sunday to share images from the last evening’s ceremony to announce winners of the Brindisi-Vlora sailing race.

“Delighted to see the number of sailing boats and the participants increasing each year, making the event more spectacular,” Mayor Dredha said.

The race is considered the largest event taking place between the two countries on the two sides of the Adriatic.

“Regata del Grande Salento Brindisi-Vlor”kicked off in 2011 on the 20^th anniversary of the landing of Albanian migrants in the southern Italian port of Brindisi.

The message of hope for the future is conveyed every year at the beginning of July with the starting point this time in the opposite direction from Brindisi to arrive in Vlora and vice versa, as evidence of change and the path of common values.
