While the NATO Summit in The Hague is just three days away, Defense Minister Pirro Vengu shared a video message from Rutte today, who speaks about the focus of this important summit. Vengu emphasized that, “The great Atlantic family comes together to discuss the future, confront common challenges and strengthen collective security”.

In his video message from NATO headquarters in Brussels, Rutte speaks about the importance of The Hague Summit.

“What we see is Russia rapidly reconstituting itself; we see a massive Chinese built-up of its military. So, we have to make sure we can defend the 1 billion people of the NATO. This is what this summit is about”, said Rutte.

NATO Secretary General said that, “During the summit there will be discussed on much more defense spending so that we can defend ourselves. Money is one thing. We need to gear up the staff, i.e. the soldiers. When it comes to defense industrial production, we have to do much more than we do now. This will be the second big subject of the summit. And of course, Ukraine. We shall make sure that Ukraine can defend itself and in case of a peace deal we need to make sure that that peace deal is lasting. Putin will never dare again attack Ukraine in case a peace deal is done.”

Rutte also spoke about NATO partners and concluded by saying that, “We shall be able to defend ourselves and take all the necessary decisions”. /m.m/j.p/p.s./
