In her remarks, Kos addressed investments and justice reform.

According to Kos, this reform is a crucial factor for a favorable business climate.

“Just as loans guarantee risk-free investments, so do the reforms we are helping candidate countries implement on their path to EU membership. Why do we insist so much on the rule of law? Because it is also a crucial economic factor,” said Kos.

Kos emphasized, “Investors need to trust that contracts will be honored, regulations will stay consistent, and disputes can be settled fairly in court.”

“Our efforts to integrate our candidates more deeply and quickly into our single market can yield dividends only if European investors and businesses know they will find a business climate that is predictable and secure,” emphasized Kos.

“The economic case for EU enlargement has always been strong. For businesses and investors, this is an opportunity. As we integrate candidate countries into the single market, new doors are being opened – providing access to growing economies and investment opportunities closer to home. And once these countries become full members, the potential will be even greater,” said Kos.

The Commissioner stated that enlargement is not a favor to the candidate countries; it is an investment in our peace, freedom, prosperity, and security.

“Every reform is a step towards a more resilient economy, a fairer society, and a future within the European Union. With the support and guarantees of the EU, that future should not be put on hold: investment opportunities and progress can begin now,” said Kos.

Kos also stated that the 6 billion euro fund under the economic growth plan will soon become a reality.

“In the Western Balkans, we have deployed 6 billion euros in grants and loans to encourage economic reforms and accelerate the accession process, as well as integration into the EU single market. The Western Balkans Investment Framework is the main platform for implementing reforms and the economic growth plan. We look forward to continuing the fruitful cooperation with your bank,” said Kos.

The European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Marta Kos, will visit Albania for the first time on March 13-14.

Kos will publicly announce the holding of the fourth intergovernmental conference with Albania on March 18. /r.e/sm/
