TIRANA, April 3 /ATA/ The Director for the Western Balkans at the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood in the European Commission, Valentina Superti, stated today from Tirana that “issues related to the rule of law will shape the path towards the EU.”
In her speech at the second high-level meeting organized by the Albanian Parliament, “Albania 2030 in the EU – The Path of Reforms,” Superti said, “My mission and our mission as an institution is to make progress together with Albania towards the EU.”

According to her, Albanian citizens are strongly supporting this process.
To achieve this, Superti continued, this is a complex exercise, and the rule of law is the core issue of the EU accession process.
“Thinking about the proposals and working on these initiatives concerning the rule of law, it will be important to keep in mind that the rule of law initiative must continue to include a system of checks and balances. The second point which is crucial to consider is that the justice reform already implemented has been a cornerstone on your path to the EU,” emphasized Superti.

Superti stated, “We need to consolidate and further build upon the justice reform, reinforcing its successes and achievements, while at the same time addressing, when necessary, some of the issues mentioned earlier, such as access to the justice system, efficient and effective systems, and the resolution of legal conflicts.”

Superti highlighted that “the rule of law is crucial for your country’s progress, and although it may appear to be a highly technical matter, it is directly tied to the established benchmarks.”
