The participants focused during their discussions on protection of children, family and marriage, as essential elements for a society that aspires to be part of the European Union.

In this context, it was emphasized that the family should be a space of safety and protection and that violence or violation of children’s rights cannot be tolerated.

The participants of the roundtable discussed ways to reflect these principles in the new provisions of the Criminal Code, gathering experiences and best practices in a comprehensive and transparent process, while aiming to harmonize with European human rights standards.

There are planned around 25 public consultation rounds for the draft of the new Criminal Code.

The first draft of the new Criminal Code was presented on July 25, after several years of work by a group of experts chaired by Director of the School of Magistrates, Prof. Arben Rakipi.

The draft was launched for consultation by the Ministry of Justice with justice system actors, international partners, universities, civil society, the media and the government as part of the commitments of membership in the European Union and essential for bolstering the Rule of Law. /gj.m/a.f/p.s./

Three Albanian teams take part in this competition: “Partizani”, “Vllaznia” and “Dinamo”.

The draw fixed the rival team of Albania’s second-best team, “Vllaznia” and  “Partizani”, that was ranked in the Final Four of the Albanian Superleague. The red and blue flannel team of “Vllaznia” will play versus Latvia’s “BFC Daugavpils”. The first match is planned to be home, while the return match will be away, in Latvia.

While “Partizani” will play versus Estonia’s “Nomme Kalju”. The first match will be away.

“Dinamo”, the same like “Partizani”, was in the Final Four of Albania’s championship. But, UEFA decided it will begin the competition in the second leg because the challenging team of “Drogheda United” was expelled from the Conference League.

The team led by Orges Shehi defeated “Dinamo Batumi” with the score 2 to 1 getting qualified for the second stage of the Conference League. The goals for “Tirana” were scored by Lushkja and Deliu in each part of the game. The first match ended 1 to 1 and with the overall result 3 to 2, “Tirana” qualifies for the second round of the Conference League when it will face the Turkish football giants ‘Besiktas’ on July 27, first match in Istanbul.

At the end of the first round of matches for the European cups, after the elimination of “Partizan” from the Champions League, and “Vllaznia” as well as “Egnatia” from the Conference League, only “Tirana” managed to qualify. /p.s./

In the quality of the rapporteur of the Committee on Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights, Klotilda Bushka said that the Committee considered in a special meeting the issues according to the agenda regarding the first round for election of the President.

“The committee concluded that no candidacy was submitted to the Assembly until the deadline set by the Conference of Chairmen. Under these circumstances, pursuant to Article 87, point 2 of the Constitution, which stipulates that the first round of voting takes place no more than 7 days from the beginning of the procedure for election of the President and the voting is considered completed even when no candidate is presented, it submits the report to the plenary session of the Assembly. Hence, I present the report and close the procedure of the first round for election of the President without a candidate”, she said.

Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla said that, “Based on the report of the Law Committee, the first round is considered completed. Hence, I call on the Conference of Chairmen to meet and set the date of the second round of voting for election of the President”. /a.a/p.s./
