Rota stated that Albania has worked hard to strengthen relations with its neighbors through mechanisms such as the “Open Balkans”.

“This year marks 35 years since our two countries established diplomatic relations. This relationship will definitely continue to grow as our countries work together to strengthen trade and people-to-people ties,” he said.

“Canada and Albania also have opportunities to cooperate on issues that challenge us all, such as the need to strengthen human rights, diversity, inclusion, gender equality, women’s empowerment and climate change,” Rota emphasized.

“In 2019, the Parliamentary group of Canadian-Albanian friendship was founded as an expression of goodwill of our two nations to promote cooperation,” said Rota.

Also, he added, “Albania has worked hard to strengthen relations with its neighbors through mechanisms such as the “Open Balkans”.

“I was glad when I learned that in July Albania officially opened EU accession negotiations for membership in the European Union. Canada supports your aspirations for EU membership and wishes you all the best in this journey”, he said.

Also, Rota continued, “We look forward to closer cooperation during the 2022-2023 mandate of the UN Security Council, where Albania is a member”.

Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada also spoke about the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

“This aggression”, Rota added, “has shown us that countries that think alike must work together in defense of common values”. /j.p/p.s./
