This investment will have a direct positive impact on economic, agricultural, and tourism development by improving the access for the community, farmers, and other economic enterprises, as well as for tourists heading to destinations in Eastern Albania. It will also include new tourist areas such as the Shebenik-Jabllanicë Park in Librazhd, and cultural, natural, and historical sites in the Dibër region.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, saw first-hand the progress of the works, emphasizing the importance of this road segment.

“Under the new plan to establish a border point at the Bushtrica Bridge, which will entail a tunnel constructed jointly by Albania and North Macedonia as part of Corridor 8, travel will be significantly easier and faster for residents of all the areas along this route,” said Balluku.

Balluku stated that the refurbishment of this road segment was carried out using high construction standards, taking into account the tough weather conditions in the area.

“Building roads is not enough; they must be constructed up to the standards, as the maintenance challenges incur higher costs,” stressed Balluku.

With the completion of the road, the connection between Bulqiza and Librazhd will take 40 minutes.

On the other hand, the head of ADF, Dritan Agolli, announced that the road segment from Arrazi to Lurë is set to be completed by the beginning of next summer.

For Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, the construction of this segment is highly important, as Lura has become one of the major tourist attractions, especially for foreign visitors.

“The road was not only dilapidated but also dangerous. The construction of this road is eagerly anticipated not only by the residents but also by investors who are building guesthouses in the area.”

“We expect to finish the segment from Peshkopia to Lurë by the start of next summer, after which we will proceed with the Ring Road extending to Rrëshen,” stated Balluku.
