The municipality of Tirana announces that the works were inspected by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and the SP MP, Xhemal Qefalia, who emphasized that upgraded infrastructure also boosts the development of rural areas.

“When it comes to the quality of the work here, it is no different from the work done in the city. This is evidence of an equal standard. Even the new road of Krraba rejuvenated the surrounding areas. The road brings opportunities and I believe it will bring back not only people who have their roots in the countryside, but I’m sure it will attract people from the city who, either want to retire here, or open an agritourism, or to invest in village.”

Veliaj said that the Municipality of Tirana is planning revitalization of the villages, with numerous social-cultural events, which generate more economy.

“All of a sudden the road comes with plenty of opportunities, which create economy for the village. We need to make up for lost time. As a result of 30- year transition, people have abandoned the village and the rural economy has shrunk, therefore we need to boost it through investments. One of our plans is to bring life to these communities. So, first roads and infrastructure, then activities such as the “Tomato Festival”, “Vineyard Festival” or “Olive Oil Festival”, which are all the more reason for people to flock to the village of Shën Mëri”, underlined Veliaj .

The mayor stated that there are many success stories, such as Farka and Dajti, where investments not only have driven up the land value, but also boosted the economy of the families.
