TIRANA, Oct 13 /ATA/ The construction of the Korçë-Ersekë road, an important infrastructure project for the country and also a destination for tourists due to the scenic views it offers, has completed.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has shared images of the completed road, which connects the two municipalities in just 20 minutes. He adds that this road will provide optimal conditions for residents and propel to development the tourism, which has begun to boom in Kolonjë and Leskovik, areas that were previously isolated.

“Here is the revitalized Korçë-Ersekë road, completed as a new route that connects the two municipalities in just 20 minutes, creates optimal transport conditions for residents, agricultural products, and propels to development local tourism, which has begun to boom in Kolonjë and Leskovik, areas that were previously completely isolated,” Prime Minister Edi Rama said.

The Prime Minister also hit back at the opposition’s allegations regarding the landslide in a part of the road in February of this year, stating that the damage has been repaired at the company’s own expense.

“There was a lot of mudslinging and criticism over a landslide on the road during construction phase, which was entirely rebuilt at the company’s expense. He who laughs last, laughs best,” PM writes.

The Korçë-Ersekë road had a length of 45 kilometers, while the distance is now shortened to 35 kilometers.

The construction of this road boosts tourism development in the southeastern region of the country by bringing closer two areas with significant potential, such as Korça and Ersekë.
