INSTAT published the results of the 2023 Income and Living Standards Survey (AANJ), which measures the standard of living, relative poverty, and material and social deprivation in household economic units in Albania. According to the survey, the indicator has decreased by approximately 5.4%.

According to INSTAT, in 2023, the at-risk-of-poverty indicator in Albania stands at 19.7%, marking a decrease of 0.9 percentage points compared to 2022.

The poverty risk threshold for a person in 2023 is estimated at 270,565 lek, compared to 225,931 lek in 2022.

“Approximately 545,400 individuals in 2023 were estimated to be below the poverty risk threshold, compared to around 576,316 individuals estimated in 2022, a figure that has decreased by about 5.4%,” reports INSTAT.

The most significant decrease in the risk of poverty has been observed in the age group of 18-64 years.

In 2023, the average monthly disposable income per capita increased by 18.1% compared to 2022.

The key indicators for monitoring relative poverty, income distribution, and other living standards indicators are based on the objectives of the Europe 2030 agenda.

Tourism and construction are two sectors that have contributed to the income of citizens.
