TIRANA, February 2/ATA/ Puka has become a year-round tourist attraction, due to its natural beauty, history and rich gastronomy.

A favorite destination for foreigners, but also local people, Puka attracts more visitors during the winter time due to the snow and mountainous terrain, but especially due to the fact that recently there has been installed the largest zip-line in the Balkans, with a length of 1,200 meters, a height of 20 meters and a speed that reaches 80–100 km per hour.

Deputy Mayor of Puka Ferid Ringaj said during an interview that last year there were about 17,000 tourists, of which 2,800 were foreign tourists, from Europe, Asia and Arab countries.

“I appreciate 2024 a successful year in terms of the number of visitors. According to tourist operators in the area, there is a significant increase in tourists, thanks to the numerous activities held in Puka which focus on promotion of the agricultural products of the area, cultural activities like the National Festival of Young Instrumentalists, Puka Culture Day, Puka meals, the “Puka Agro-Fest” Fair, etc.,” he emphasized.

In addition to participating in annual activities, the most frequented points of Puka are Lake Koman, Murga Peak, the historical Caves, Mount Munella, which is a protected area due to the lynx living there, other mountainous areas through marked trails. Since Puka is also a crossing point to go to Valbona, there are other touristic parts on the panoramic road to Lake Fierza, etc.

According to the deputy mayor of this municipality, referring to the booking figures as provided by the tourist operators for 2025, there is expected to be an increase of 15-20% in the number of tourists.

According to him, Puka municipality has some projects planned for the current year focusing on infrastructure, construction of new hotels, investments in guesthouses, etc./a.f/p.s./
