TIRANA, May 12 /ATA/ The magnificent amphitheater of Durrës, the 2700-year-old monument, the largest that the Romans built outside Rome, will continue to be explored further, with great care, as an open heart of ancient and modern Durres, thanks to the project for its revitalization, entrusted to the well-known architect Stefano Boeri.

This important project with a direct impact on tourism and the economy is the result of successful cooperation between the government and the municipality of Durres for development of a new vision for Durres, as a city with extraordinary development potential.

The project was presented this evening in the premises of the Amphitheater, by the architect Stefano Boeri with the participation of the Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Minister of Culture Elva Margariti, the Mayor of Durrës Emiriana Sako and the citizens of Durrës.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his address during the project presentation, stated that the magnificent amphitheater will continue to be explored as an open heart of the ancient and modern Durres, showcasing a monumental scale of the thousand-year history of the city where a powerful economic engine for Albania 2030 will be built with vision, ambition, skills and dedication.

Rama described this project as challenging and very complex.

Rama said that this is a project that, on the one hand, guarantees the continuation of the work started a few years ago with the discovery of a part of this colossal wealth, but it continues as a project of a generation and is the mirror image of a great ambition .

“Because in reality the progress of this project will be another driving force for the economy, tourism, art and culture not only of the city of Durrës, but at the national level,” he said.

Rama pointed out that what makes Durrës more important on the map of the country’s overall development is the fact that Durrës, due to its position and heritage potential, has a specific weight that will grow with the national impact at all levels.

“Therefore, investments in Durrës are not investments in a certain area or municipality, but they are investments that deliver a much wider impact than merely the impact in the municipality of Durrës. This makes the citizens of Durrës the first and main direct beneficiaries, but it undoubtedly brings benefits to others who are not citizens of Durres,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
Another important aspect, according to Rama, is the exponential increase in the value of property in Durrës.

“There is an increase in value of property, compared to other cities, including Tirana due to the tourist port project. This is just one important element that will increase the value of the property of the residents of Durrës, while the amphitheater project is another element. While all other projects have their own specific weight in increasing the value of the property, just like the cultural projects and the sports field program,” said the Prime Minister.
Rama announced that another element is the dimension of art and culture.
