TIRANA, Sept. 14 /ATA/ – Revenue from the management and rental of confiscated assets in Albania reached 180 million lek in the first eight months of 2026, the head of the Agency for the Administration of Confiscated Assets, Risena Xhaja, said on Monday.

Speaking at a parliamentary hearing, Xhaja said rental income had risen sharply in recent years, from 79 million leks in 2023 to 160 million leks in 2024 and 221 million leks in 2025. She said revenue was expected to increase further by the end of 2026.

She said the agency had made transparency a priority, publishing online catalogues of seized and confiscated assets that are regularly updated. Citizens, businesses and institutions can access the information and apply to use or rent the assets, she said.

The increased revenue is channelled into a special fund used to support law-enforcement institutions and organisations, Xhaja said.

As part of Albania’s EU integration process, the agency aims to have 50% of confiscated assets used for social purposes. Beneficiaries include courts and prosecutors’ offices, police, armed forces, health and social protection institutions and local government bodies.
