Asked by news agency Reuters whether such a deal was also possible with Germany, he said at present there was not enough capacity and that Germany has to find another partner.

“Germany has to find another partner, because Albania has reached an agreement with Italy only to take in refugees arriving there into reception centres, to help curb irregular migration into the EU and Albania cannot do this with everyone. And if Germany finds another partner in the region, it would be great to find out whether it would work in the same way,” PM Rama said in an interview with Reuters.

With few months ahead of the next general elections in Albania, the government head affirmed he intends to run for a fourth term in 2025, stating that Albania’s European Union accession by 2023 is  one of the reasons why Albanian should vote the Socialists for another term in office.
