In a press release, the Academy of Sciences elaborated on the focus of the meeting held on January 24, where the Prime Minister praised the results of the reform and the work done so far by the Academy of Sciences.

Rama sought information on the report from the Institute of Archaeology, focusing on its connection with the Archaeological Museum of Durrës.

Prime Minister Rama pledged to follow up the issue, consulting with the relevant minister, and requested the Academy and its experts to propose amendments to the heritage law.

The Prime Minister proposed that, with the reconstruction and reorganization of the National Historical Museum, funds from the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Ethnography be integrated into the NHM, divided into distinct museum lines. He also suggested incorporating the Albanian language, while acknowledging the Academy of Sciences’ request for an autonomous museum with the funds from the institutes involved in academic research.

Regarding the request for increased funding for scientific research, Prime Minister Rama assured support, but emphasized the need for concrete studies and a clear map outlining the potential benefits in the field of scientific research.

The Prime Minister also discussed the possibility of developing a strategy that would incorporate cooperation between the research centers and scientific units of the Academy of Sciences, relevant ministries, and the private sector, in order to provide expertise through product certification as a means of generating revenue.

For his part, Gjinushi presented a summary of the activities of the Academy of Sciences, particularly highlighting the progress of three Albanology projects and the establishment of the Biogenetics Center.

He briefed the Prime Minister on the restructuring and reorganization of the Albanology institutes, permanent centers, and temporary units, highlighting that approximately 500 highly skilled researchers and collaborators are actively engaged at the Academy of Sciences.
