TIRANA, Nov 11 /ATA/ Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, attended on Friday a consultative meeting with international partners for the Juvenile Justice Strategy 2022-2026.

During this meeting, the participants shared opinions on the main policy goals of the Action Plan, the new Juvenile Justice Strategy, as well as the creation of a plan of measures that focuses on information and education programs for the early prevention of delinquency; development of best practice standards and guidelines for juvenile justice; drawing up reports for evaluation of criminal, civil and family legislation, with the aim of improving the legislation in the field of protecting children’s rights in accordance with international standards.

Manja emphasized that the Juvenile Justice Strategy 2022-2026 was based on four policy outputs, which are also the focus for the years to come.

“They are the prevention of crimes against children and by them through education, information and awareness of society and children, a legal, institutional and professional framework that enables a friendly justice for every child, guaranteeing equitable access at any time to friendly justice for every child, as well as criminal justice that guarantees prevention of reoffending, the re-socialization and re-integration of children in contact/conflict with the law”, said the minister.

Protecting and guaranteeing children’s rights is one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Justice, materialized in the Program of the Albanian government under the main objective: “Implementation of the reform of the justice system for juveniles in conflict with the law, strengthening the restorative justice and effective procedural protection”.
