TIRANA, Jan 28 /ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj, asked Parliament to approve the Normative Act on the use of fast-track procedure for subsidizing the rent for the families left homeless by November 26, 2019 earthquake.

“The Normative Act benefits 14 thousand families and over 50 thousand people who on November 26, 2019 experienced not only pain and anxiety, but also faced an unprecedented situation remaining homeless,” said Denaj.

This is not just a special act or an administrative procedure, it is part of the government’s strategy, which responded swiftly by triggering all necessary legal acts and funding opportunities to come to the aid of affected population.

First, by providing temporary accommodation of families in hotel structures and secondly, the allocation of the rent subsidy for 2020 in a total amount of almost ALL 3 billion. The fund in 2021 is projected to be smaller as many of the works on construction sites of the reconstruction process have completed and a part of the families have moved or are about to move into new homes,” she said.

According to her, about 14 thousand families have been supported through rent subsidy, of which 32% in the city of Durrës, 20% in Tirana, 15% in Kruja and others in 8 municipalities of the regions located in the area hit the hardest.
