In his speech, Berisha stressed the need to further reorganise and open up the Democratic Party, calling for its structures to be activated at every level.

Berisha highlighted the track record of the Democratic Party’s previous government, citing increases in wages and pensions, investments in infrastructure, education and healthcare, as well as the development of the production sector.

He said the Democratic Party should return to policies that put citizens at the centre.

Berisha said the Democratic Party should return to its previous policies, while stressing that renewing and opening the party to young people, women and new figures is essential to its return to power.

Berisha said the Democratic Party must renew itself and open up to younger people, women and new talent in order to return to power. Under the slogan “Renew the DP, renew Albania”, he called for stronger grassroots structures and closer engagement with citizens regardless of their political affiliation.

He described the opposition’s years in political struggle as difficult and painful, but said they had also represented a period of dignity and perseverance for the Democratic Party.

Berisha said that, during the Democratic Party’s time in government, Albania ranked fourth out of 150 countries worldwide for translating economic growth into improved citizens’ wellbeing.

“Why do I mention this? Because this is our solemn commitment. For us, renewing Albania means, above all, changing the way we engage with and serve citizens,” Berisha said.
