Leaders of religious faiths in the country, ministers, MPs, foreign diplomats, heads of institutions, artists, athletes, doctors, etc. joined the Iftar dinner at the Palace of Congresses.

The welcoming floor was delivered by the Prime Minister’s wife, Linda Rama, who said that, “in 1923, the High Muslim Council addressed a letter to the then Prime Minister to announce the establishment of the Albanian Muslim community. With the postulate that love for the homeland derives from faith and with the decision to use the Albanian language as the language of the Islamic liturgy, the Albanian Muslims have embraced, since their birth as a community, a vision of peace in the homeland, love and progress.”

Linda Rama said that, “today the windows of communication between us are limitless and the flow of information as well, creating a previously unknown opportunity to catch up with the world, the good and progress but also increasing in an almost stifling manner the pressure to submit to temptation, to vanity, to selfishness, to the unbearable lightness of being, as the title of a famous book puts it.

“Today, 100 years later, this progress of peace embraced naturally by all religious communities is the radiant mirror image of religious harmony, the precious asset of Albanians, a valuable gift to the family of European nations and an example for every country where Albanians live and work. Through harmony, we have faced the responsibility of being an example, which is also one of the listed virtues of the Quran itself,” said Linda Rama.

“There are many fortunately, although unfortunately neglected, examples of virtue among us, who by their choice and their daily work make society better, the climate between us more peaceful and the environment healthier,” she says.
